Cosmetic Dental Bonding

 

The restoration of a damaged tooth by applying a tooth-colored resin is known as bonding. The procedure gets its term from the materials hat are bonded to the tooth by use of dental adhesives. Bonding can be used for dental cosmetics to cover discolored teeth, restore damaged tooth structure from decay or fracture or it is used to close spaces between the teeth also known as a diastima. Bonding can also be use to lengthen teeth or to change the shape or color of teeth. At our  office we only use bonding restorations to restore damaged teeth and we do not utilize amalgam or silver restorations for our restorative dentistry.

 

Tooth bonding can be an alternative to crowns and porcelain veneers to treat some of the more common dental issues. Bonding can be used to:

 

• Repair teeth damaged from decay (tooth filling)
• Change appears of the tooth
• Straighten the ap pearce of rotated or misaligned teeth

There are several different types of porcelain and techniques used to achieve the desired outcome.

 

Emax crowns are the newest form of all porcelain crowns and are replacing the traditional use of Porcelain Fused to Metal crowns (PFM) due to their esthetics and strength

 

Feldspathic porcelain is the most widely used type of porcelain in dentistry in the last 10 years

Lava crown has a core structure made of translucent Zirconia material which is very commonly used in dentistry
